Shane diagrammed this sentence in his Essentials of the English Language class. Shane really enjoys grammar and has done an outstanding job in mastering it. He will finish with his grammar studies next week. He has met the English grammar requirements and will not need to do any other grammar in middle school or high school. I might do some reinforcement lessons but he will review English grammar while he learns Latin and other foreign languages.
We are fast approaching the last weeks of Classical Conversations this year. I have seen academic growth in all my children.
Carissa has done an outstanding job and has demonstrated how rhetorical she has become. She continues to receive high remarks from her tutor. Her workload this year has been tremendous. I have been told by many people that her school workload is equivalent to a student obtaining a masters degree from college. These remarks are from parents that have a masters degree. Anyway, she does not want to do Classical Conversations next year, so we are looking at other options for her schooling. She really only needs four credits to graduate when she begins her senior year. She needs a math credit, an elective credit, a credit in physical education, and a half credit in personal finance, and a half credit in health education to be able to graduate. She plans to have a lite class schedule her senior year. She also wants to take human anatomy, ancient history, and ancient literature, even though she does not need the credits. She will continue her piano instruction. French is the language she wants to study next school year.
Nathan has done amazing with his studies. He is a hands on learner. He is learning speech and debate. He had his first debate in class last week. He has kept up with reading 23 literature books this year. We are proud of him for keeping up with his studies. We are looking into something different for him next year. He will not be doing Classical Conversations for his sophomore year of studies. I think the workload is not for him. He will be taking science and computer classes next year as well as other classes. He has a strong interest in science and computers. We want to get him into a vocational/tech school as soon as we can. I am excited to see what career path he will decide.
Shane and Jarrett will be doing Classical Conversations next year. Shane will be starting 7th grade and Jarrett will be in 4th grade.
