Poetry and Verses

I enjoy reading poetry.

Another Day

Another day lies just before me
Another day in which to live;
Another day to meet the challenge
To work and pray and love-and give!

--Alice Hansche Mortenson--

Lend a Hand

I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something;
And because I cannot do everything
I will not refuse to do something that I can do.

--Edward Everett Hall--

Four Things

Four things a man must learn to do
If he would make his record true:
To think without confusion clearly;
To love his fellowmen sincerely;
To act from honest motives purely;
To trust in God and Heaven securely.

--Henry Van Dyke--

Never grow a wishbone where your backbone ought to be. --Jenny Paddleford

Politeness is good nature regulated by good sense.--Henry Ward Beecher

Barefoot Days

In the morning, very early
That's the time I love to go
Barefoot where the fern grows curly
And the grass is cool between each toe,
On a summer morning-o!
On a summer morning!

That is when the birds go by
Up the sunny slopes of air,
And each rose has a butterfly
Or a golden bee to wear;
And I am glad in every toe
Such a summer morning-O!
Such a summer morning!

--Rachel Field--
