Make Way For Ducklings

Aren't they just darling?? These 3 ducklings were given to our children from our neighbor.

This is a story about Mr. & Mrs. Duck and how they laid 5 eggs in our barn one day. Brian left the barn door open one day and that is how Mrs. Duck got in. Carissa found the eggs a few days later. The kids were so excited to have duck eggs in the barn. They immediately took the eggs to our neighbors because they did not belong to us. Our neighbor told the kids that she will put them in the incubator and when they hatch they will belong to them...since Mrs. Duck laid on our property. The kids were so excited when she said that. Four ducklings hatched but only 3 survived. Mr. Duckling disappeared shortly after the eggs were laid. Our neighbor believes an animal may have eaten him. There have been sightings of a bobcat and foxes in the area. Mrs. Duck was given away before her ducklings hatched, so the ducklings have no mom or dad to look after them. Carissa, Nathan, and Shane take good care of them and they seem to have adjusted to their new home.

This is one of our hens. She has been laying on her eggs for almost 2 weeks now. Wow!! The other 3 hens do not lay on their eggs.

Brian finally finished putting together the children's swing set. I think it took him around 12 days to complete because it had over 200 parts.

Here is Brian working on his garden. He is preparing the soil to plant seeds.
